
The Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce created the Starburst Junior Golf Classic in the fall of 1998. A committee was formed and area golf courses were recruited to host the first tournament in 1999. The initial goal was to eventually have a tournament for 500 players.
The first tournament in 1999 included 400 players. In 2010, the tournament will be limited to 1030 players with just over 250 players on the waiting lists. Eight courses will be used to assist with the largest junior golf tournament in the world. Players from numerous states and other countries will come to Waco to win this prestigious tournament.
The tournament committee of 40 dedicated volunteers to manage the three-day event. They will lead a group of 250 volunteers and Mars Snackfood US employees to host one of the premier junior tournaments in the country.
